3/24/2024 0 Comments Hire a helper movers![]() ![]() I would NEVER EVER recommend HireAHelper and would not recommend you give them your credit card info. I would hire both of the teams we had again. This “manager Josh was so disrespectful both my wife, who actually booked it and I hung up on him. He decided we were on the hook for the second team and of course, they have your credit card numbers already. Ended up talking to manager named Josh who accused me of lying and was so disrespectful. About ten minutes later a guy calls to say they are on the way (2 hours late, work done, we only hired one team). Left after their two hours with job done, signed email to release money. Wife decided it was worth it to keep me from having a heart attack so rescheduled. Hired for unloading and the up sale was almost double the quote so canceled. Fine, paid the extra $50, they did a good job. We hired to load, and, of course the cost was more than quoted because “the quoted company was not available”. Hopefully, this review will make some people think because Hire-A-Helper uses 3rd party unreliable movers and won't help you when things go wrong. Just be cautious using this site and book movers DIRECTLY because later if you try to make a claim with your credit company for "quality of service" it will be much more difficult to get your money back. Pay a little extra for qualified movers and save yourself the headache later. Just look at the number of complaints they have against them on the Better Business Bureau website. So Hire-A-Helper stating on their website that "we have the highest quality movers you can book anywhere online" is an absolute joke. ![]() We honestly thought we were on some reality show and a camera crew would jump out any minute. ![]() So YES, anything larger than a box the guy refused to put on the truck. Not only did Elite Moving Services show up over 2 hours late on the day of the move but one of the guys they sent refused and I can't stress that enough REFUSED to lift anything heavy. They put us in contact with Elite Moving Services, which ended in a horrible experience. What a horrible experience using "HireAHelper" My wife and I used this site to find movers and I wish we went elsewhere. This company seems more like a criminal operation than a moving company - since they start grooming you for an exorbitant tip from the first phone call from the "helpers" they hire. So NO, I'd never suggest HireAHelper to anyone. I felt like an idiot for giving them anything and in afterthought I wish I hadn't. After being told several times they expected a $600 tip I reluctantly gave them $200, even when the furniture was still missing. After looking around the property we found it sitting outside the elevator on the 2nd floor - 3 hours later. They had unloaded the furniture and went directly inside the building. I came back to my apt and got the GM to look at the security footage. We got there and the furniture wasn't there. They told me they would have to charge me but reluctantly did go back - about 2 whole miles away. ![]() I told him we never had a final walk through and we need to go back to see if this furniture was left behind. When I asked where it was the lead "helper" and driver, told me that I had checked off on everything at the final walkthrough at the original location. They were done in three hours but had misplaced a major piece of furniture for my bedroom set. From the first phone call, they called to tell me they would be 3-hours late from our 8 AM appointment and then the "helpers" they told me that they expected a "$600 gratuity for this job." I hired them for four hours for $664.50. ![]()
